Autumn Fair 2017 – NEC, Birmingham
Both the buying and design team have been busy at the Autumn fair at the NEC this week, reviewing and looking at the latest products that are being offered to small business.
From mirrored to upcycled furniture, hurricanes lanterns to an abundance of Christmas decorations – there certainly was a lot to see at the NEC this week.
Wooden Inlays and textures have been at the forefront of our designs in the past year, and we are looking forward to carrying these through into our designs for AW18. Texture and inlays were apparent with many exhibitors, and we saw a lot of cabinets and sideboards on display with unusual carvings and textures. Furniture now has much more depth – adding character to pieces.
Another noticeable trend is ‘Fusion’ focusing on Moroccan styling, with detailed wooden fret work, mirror panelling and luxurious Moroccan patterns, this was everywhere at the Autumn Fair. We had picked up on this interesting trend back when designing SS18 and combined it into our Jet Setter Fusion trend – which has been inspired by the well-travelled traveller and the mementoes that they bought back.
Lastly, the Autumn Fair has reaffirmed our belief that the industrial/salvage trend is not going anywhere for now. We saw a lot of black metal framing with mango wood, but also a slightly softer industrial style, using lighter wood finishes.
Entering into the new season we are eager to show all our customers the exciting things we have been hard at work on.
